“Corridors of Science” is a book series issued by the Algerian Academy of the Arabic Language for researchers, experts, and general readers. Its forthcoming volumes will include up-to-date scientific texts translated from foreign languages into Arabic across diverse fields of knowledge. The Academy’s Translation Committee, together with experts, oversees the selection and translation of these materials, making use of artificial-intelligence applications as tools in the process.
The series aims to:
- Fulfill an intellectual and civilizational duty: translation in domains such as artificial intelligence, machine translation, cybersecurity, medicine, education, economics, law, and other knowledge fields is a scientific activity that addresses the needs of Arab societies across all segments.
- Narrow the knowledge gap and build capacity among Arabic-language stakeholders: by enabling the Arab reader in general -and the Algerian reader in particular- to access the latest global outputs in Arabic, understand the tools of our era, and interact with them.
This translation project is a practical model for localizing specialized scientific knowledge, transferring technology into Arabic, and addressing gaps in Arabic-language library. The Academy looks forward to expanding and valorizing this experience, given its substantial benefits.
The project adheres strictly to the ethics and requirements of scholarly integrity: obtaining prior permission to translate from the author, the publisher, or both; recording full bibliographic data for the source text -citing the original title and its online link; preserving authors’ references in their original locations; and placing translators’ notes in a dedicated section to avoid confusion.
The translations will also yield terminological glossaries across scientific disciplines in three languages -Arabic, English, and French. In addition, the series will highlight newly coined terms in various scientific fields and commonly used Arabic equivalents, steering terminological work toward precise coinages that respect the structures of Arabic while keeping pace with contemporary developments in knowledge.
Accordingly, the Academy extends its thanks to the scholars whose articles were selected for translation and to the editors of the scientific journals from which these texts are drawn, for facilitating access for Arabic-language users. All are deserving of appreciation for this fruitful scholarly collaboration.
